Sig in our parts? What does that mean?

Don't worry I'll just be focusing on quality. Because I still don't have a good idea for another part about RE2. If I finished soon, I may not have an idea at that time. I should watch some Youtube videos of the game for inspiration. I've only seen my friend play it.

Also, I really didn't like what I had so far, because I had a much better vision of what I've already done should look like. So I basically started over from frame 1.

okay, that should be just fine, take as much time as you need. Oh and signature for are parts, like dante's, or mine (for example) in your parts.

I don't know what you mean by signature.

So I've been deciding on improving myself as an animator, but mainly on my art. You see, aside from the basics of sound and how to make a button, I taught myself flash. And my art is pretty unprofessional. I can't change my own empty style of art, but I can pretty it up. I wanted to use this part as practice, and with the first few seconds of it, I have to focus on a good background. I tried to make the lake in Resident Evil 4 (part of my part):

<a href="http://spamtheweb.com/ul/upload/4008/81744_Resident_Evil_Collab_part_2.php">http://spamtheweb.com/ul/upload/4008/
81744_Resident_Evil_Collab_part_2.php </a>

I know the real lake didn't look as colorful, but making an eerie, empty location wasn't as easy as I'd thought. Please tell me any things I should change about this lake. Thanks.

well, in general it does look a little bright... if you put this picture over everything... and made the alpha to your liking... I think it would look very erie.

go there for the pic

I don't know what pic you mean but the URL doesn't work even when I get rid of that space in it.

Also, you didn't say what you mean by sig in our parts.

okay, try this one -- <a href="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/208/446326527_7e6a353736.jpg">http://farm1.static.flickr.com/208/44 6326527_7e6a353736.jpg</a>

oh and about the signature it's basically drawing/typing your name in your own elaborate way...

Sounds good, but I'm not able to change the alpha on a bitmap (picture copied and pasted in flash). Would I have to save it and import the picture and it won't be a bitmap? I also learned a thing called trace bitmap where flash remakes the picture in its own colors. It doesn't look nearly as realistic, but I suppose I could change the alpha of every distinct color, convert it to a symbol and put that over it. What do you think?

Also, I see what you mean by sig. Do you want us to put it in a specific corner like Top left?

I tried my second idea and this is the outcome:

<a href="http://spamtheweb.com/ul/upload/011108/34188_Resident_Evil_Collab_part_2.php">http://spamtheweb.com/ul/upload/01110 8/34188_Resident_Evil_Collab_part_2.p hp</a>

It moves because fog doesn't just sit in one spot, so I tweened it, and it will continue to tween as I continue to animate this view of the lake. However, even then it looks really plain. Fog is usually in a constant change in shape. Those lighter parts of it are parts of thicker fog, and I wanted to rotate them around and just free transform them so it didn't seem so much like a boring tween with no effort in it. So I attempted to turn the fog into an animation, but apparently when you "Trace Bitmap" the parts of fog are hard to move around in ways I really can't explain. It would look really odd. I thought of a way I could fix it, but bitmaps won't go in front of objects made in flash. I'll continue to try out certain things.

yeah, it looks a lot better...
oh and if you haven't broken it up... you could try right clicking it and click on move to front.

I suppose I could leave it how it is right now.

I tried to move it to front, but trace bitmap automatically breaks it up.

So I've put in some decent work with six seconds of animation so far. It actually looks really good. I've been thinking lately on our shortage of people here. Does anybody here have ideas on how we'll get some more people to help make parts? We can't make a decently lengthed collab with five people.

Hey guys, look what I found:

<a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/991896">http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/9 91896</a>

A couple of guys want to make a Resident Evil Collab, but don't know how to use a search bar. Dante already found out about this and told them, but they didn't want to go quietly. What do we do?

well there is already a resident evil collab... they'll have to get another name... and if we could finish first... with great quality in mind, we'd score better anyways...

or... we could combine... (I wouldn't suggest it)

I sent a PM to a forum mod about the other collab... so hopefully that will fix things... if continue w/ what we were doing...

One more thing... I really got to say that we should be working harder on our parts...
I want to strive to finish this by January/February

We shouldn't combine, the two main leaders don't have any flashes, and they've given up within a number of hours. Not the kind of person to cooperate with.

My part isn't much longer but I've just been making things (settings, characters, etc.) and making stuff in flash always takes long for me. Hopefully everybody else has done at least something. And do we need to put the sig in a specific corner? What's a logo animation? And we need some people to join. In a collab, the time you have the most motivation is when you first join it. Think if you can PM somebody you know to join.

I know we can pull off this collab.

I agree... with the signature, just put it in your library... I have something special planned for them. as for a logo animation... if you've seen some of greensinge's solo projects... he has an animation displaying his name at the beginning, as an example. so for you... it could be a little animation for your "idiota productions" you get what I mean?

If you can find anyone who is willing to help, and has good animations then send them a PM about it. Before I started this... I though about asking FaltaViva... but I never got around to it, So you can ask him if you want...

I'll make a sig, and I have an idea for a logo animation, but I'll make it later. There is an old friend of mine that I got in touch with again recently:

<a href="http://purplefridge.newgrounds.com/">http://purplefridge.newgrounds.com/</a>

He's had flash for about as long as I have. And yes he still works with sticks, but I bet he can make something really good if he puts his mind to it. If you want me to, then I'll ask him to join. We do need all the help we can get. I also happenned to realize that today is my year anniversary of being a flash animator, it seems like it was only a half a year ago.

And the FaltaViva guy is hilarious. I love watching Resident Evil Foar. But I'm not sure if he'd be willing to do something like this. I'll ask if you need me to.

I've watched your friends animations and games... and to be honest... there not that good. He can do something, but it has to be good, if it isn't... then either he starts again or not...

as for FaltaViva... I agree... thats why I never asked him... so it's really up to you, if you want to ask him then do so.

I PMed both people about it. I doubt FaltaViva will join, but this is more of a "here goes nothing" thing. And I told Purplefridge that his part should be really good if he wants to join.

Does anybody else know somebody that they can ask?

i WOULD join, if i knew anythnig funny about re2... havent really played it :O maybe gustavos could script mine and ill animate it...

I'm afraid I can't. I don't even have anything good planned for my RE2 part yet. I'm doing that after I finish my RE4 part. But your part doesn't have to be on RE2. It could be on any of the games and movies. I haven't played RE2 either, just watched a friend a few times long ago. You can go on Youtube and look up some videos on one of the games for inspiration. Cutscenes and Gameplay would be your best bet.

If you have a good idea then go ahead. But again, keep quality in mind.

FaltaViva responded. He said he's doing three top priority projects, but if the deadline isn't too soon then he'll make a part. I told him that we're aiming for January or February, and that he should come here for the specs and whatnot.

I'm more suprised that he responded than said yes.

Great!

Just an update. I found it ironic how I thought my part in the first collab would be really short only for it to be much longer than expected, and this time I gave a much better estimate, and was wrong again. My part is currently 30 seconds long, about 3 or 4 seconds left to animate. I hate being the person to have a longer part, but I must say that it has really turned out well. I'm impressed with myself for the first time in a long time I think.

Also, it doesn't seem like FaltaViva or PurpleFridge have decided on joining. Neither have said anything. To correct the last sentence of my recent post, Falta did not join, he was going to think about it.

okay, fine... by the way, 30 seconds is fine, it might be split up or something, but we'll figure that out latter.
